Supersize Me Review

During our viewing of the documentary SuperSize Me, Morgan Spurlock decided to expose the health concerns regarding America's fast food industry. The movie is based on Morgan Spurlock and his 30 day McDonalds Supersized "diet" monitored by several doctors and dietitians.

Every couple of days (maybe 4-6 days), Morgan would see all 3 doctors and his dietitian to keep tabs on his health throughout the film. Starting at 180 pounds, his contacts didn't expect the effects of fast food to be so bad on the human body.

After just the first couple of days, Morgan Spurlock's weight shot up to 192 pounds, baffling the doctors involved in the experiment. His health dropped, and his cholesterol shot up. As more days passed, the McDonald's Morgan was eating became addicting.

Every checkup, his weight kept rising. 197, 200, 202, 210. His kidney had as much damage as a alcohol addict. He was at a very high risk of heart failure. The effects of this experiment became clear; fast food was extremely unhealthy, and could kill most consumers.

This documentary exposed fast food companies, leading to major reforms in the world of food. Overall, this film was enjoyable to watch, while also semi-depressing, since we saw some graphic surgeries and the adverse effect of fast food. I would recommend this film to others.
